01

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage does what it says 'on the tin' - it is a massage technique that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Similar to Swedish massage, deep tissue massage uses slower and firmer strokes and pressure than other treatments - deep finger pressure that concentrates on particular areas, and follows or goes across the fibres of muscles and tendons. Deep tissue massage is a particularly effective massage for people with muscular pain

03

CHINESE  MASSAGE

Chinese massage therapy provides pain relief from sore and injured muscles. The techniques improve blood flow to areas, which facilitates health and gets rid of lactic acid build-up. The techniques also help produce a calm and relaxing mood. It is a great way for people to rejuvenate and soothe themselves psychologically from stress. Regular massage sessions boost immunity and prevent the body from developing degenerative diseases, which usually involve the muscles, internal organs and bones. According to a study published in the "Archives of Disease in Childhood" in 2012, patients showed significant improvements in their conditions after application of such techniques

02

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage emphasises prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. But you don't have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage. Sports massage is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. Reducing of pain. Tension and waste products in muscles can often cause pain. Massage helps reduce this in many ways including releasing endorphins, the body's natural painkillers.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

In Sweden, "Swedish massage" is simply known as "classic massage". And that is exactly what it is a classic treatment which represents the western standard for massage.  The five main techniques used in Swedish massage are stroking, kneading; rubbing, pounding and vibration are probably what spring to mind when you think about a "typical" massage. The various Swedish massage techniques are designed to improve your circulation, soothe your muscles and make you feel more relaxed.

ABOUT

Sylvia Lucas

In 2011 I received my Tui-Na certification from the Guangzhou Medical College of Chinese Medicine, having studied under Dr Long. living in China for 7 years, having suffered my own injuries and receiving therapy inspired me to begin my personal journey as a  massage therapist.

Working as a mobile therapist in Zhongshan city for 4 years and updating my studies on a regular basis from Dr Long  increased my skills and knowledge base.

Eager to learn more I returned to the UK and in 2016 gained ITEC diplomas in body massage and sports massage taught by Gail Lowe (FHT tutor of the year 2015) at Devon Academy of Complementary Therapies.

After a rewarding experience working as a sports therapist during the 2017 ski season in

Val D’Isere, France I have now moved to Oliva, Spain doing a variety of  massage therapies.

The reason I specialised in Massage Therapy is that I like the fact that I get great job satisfaction from it and the feedback from my clients drives me forward and makes all my training and study worthwhile.
